Take an apple out of the refrigerator and cut into slices. Place two slices of apple over your closed eyes, and sit back and unwind for ten minutes. The coolness is super-soothing and the tannin in the apple is a natural anti-inflammatory agent which helps to reduce swelling.
Up Your Fluid Intake
If the puffiness under your eyes comes and goes, it could be down to fluid retention. Too much salt in your diet, too much alcohol and too little water can all be to blame. Cut down your sodium intake and aim to drink eight glasses of water each day to remedy the problem long-term. Sleeping on a slightly raised pillow rather than lying flat can also help to eliminate fluid.
Grab Some Tea Bags
It doesn’t matter if black caffeinated tea or camomile tea is your drink of choice – both can do wonders when it comes to reducing swollen eyes. Black tea contains caffeine which helps to constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling, while herbal teas such as camomile contain anti-irritants to soothe inflammation. Help to flush out excess fluids from the face with a gentle morning massage. Place your ring finger on the inner corner of the eye and using an arc-like motion, massage to the outer corner of the eye. Repeat the process ten times under each eye before jumping out bed.
